If you’re a golf enthusiast, why not decorate in a golf theme? Many wallpaper motifs are available online with golfing designs. For a unique touch, get tabbed curtains mounted on a golf iron instead of the usual curtain rod, or add a desk lamp with a golfer on its base. Or for your bathroom, use a golf club for a towel rack.
Golf wall murals of a favorite approach shot or a course layout will make a wonderful background for home décor. Include a practice putting green and you will have the ideal setup for productively dealing with the problems that crop up in everyday life. You can have a custom golf mural painted for anywhere between $30-$100 per square foot. Alternatively, you can do it yourself, either freestyle or with stencils if you’re not sure of your artistic ability.
Other golf décor ideas include hole-in-one trophies for the mantel, golf-themed clocks and rugs. How about getting a ball display case, or hanging a painting featuring golfers on your wall?
If you’re throwing a party for an avid golfer, assemble a buffet table with items relating to golf. Use a large piece of green felt as the tablecloth. For the greens, cut out golf shapes from a lighter shade of felt, and stick them to the darker tablecloth. Add pieces of light-blue felt to represent water hazards. Glue on sandpaper shapes to represent bunkers. You can also place boxes at intervals underneath the felt to simulate hills on the “golf course.”
Bring country club style to your own backyard with outdoor wicker furniture and a green-covered table. Add a basic vase of long fresh wild grass for just a suggestion of the afternoon’s game, or for a dramatic touch, use place settings cut from fresh turf squares. You can pick up both at garden centers for just a few dollars.
The turf is an essential part of the golf course. Use long, dark green carpeting with a loose shag weave to line the room’s edges and simulate the rough. Short, medium shag is more suitable for a fairway. Bright green carpet with very short shag is reminiscent of the green. Medium blue tones on rugs form water hazards, and tan and light brown patches can be included as sand traps.
Golf curtains will complete the home décor of any genuine golf enthusiast. You can easily fashion your own golf-themed curtains if you are comfortable with a sewing machine. Just purchase ten inches more than your window length and twice the window width plus ten inches of golf-patterned fabric to produce basic gathered curtains.
